Back to Basics Camping

Open July to September

In these strange times the demand for camping holidays has increased 5 fold. Having lived in a big city we can just imagine the need for an outdoor escape, so we got together with our neighbours and opened the Annexe. Their field is surrounded by some great views and is a lovely spot.

Each group gets their own portable toilet and it will be cleaned and sanitised before you arrive. Further cleaning of the portable toilet will be the responsibility of the group.

There is a standpipe providing cold water on the site.

Each group has their own firesite.

Please click here to find out what we are doing to help limit the spread of Covid-19, and what we expect of our customers when they are on site.

Visitors to the main site are not allowed on the Annexe. Visitors to the Annexe are not allowed on the main site except to visit reception or to use the showers between 12.30 and 3.00.  Annexe visitors are not allowed to use any of the other facilities on the main site including the toilets.  Keeping the groups as separate as possible helps keep our visitors safe from COVID-19.

  • BBQ’s allowed.
  • Dogs, awnings, gazebos, extra cars are FREE
  • There is no electricity for the pitches.
  • Camper vans, caravans, commercial and twin-axle vehicles are not allowed.

Loved staying here - owners were really friendly and helpful.

The gardens are beautiful, and the location is nice and quiet.

Great place. Easy to find and well equipped. Walk to town is easy as described. Would recommend!

There is space for 6 groups on the field, you can have up to 6 tents in each group but please bear in mind you will be sharing one toilet.   Within the groups you must adhere to the current government guidelines concerning social distancing and group numbers.

Like the main campsite you can hire out the whole Annexe for your Exclusive use. Please check the prices page for more information.

There are no showers on the Annexe.  You may use the shower on the main site between 12.30 and 3.00 only.

From our spot in North Nottinghamshire there is so much to see and do! The campsite is surrounded by beautiful countryside for you to explore. For foodies, there is a great gastro-pub within an easy walk, and a cheap and cheerful alternative for when you are in the mood to save some pennies. And you are in easy walking distance (1.5m / 3km) of Retford , a charming Nottinghamshire market town, with its many independent shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and canal!

Check out our 'The Area' page and our fabulous 'Things To Do' listing for even more to do. And for info on local dog friendly places and spaces have a look at our 'Dog Friendly Retford' page. These places and spaces were all open pre-lockdown and we hope as many of them as possible will be able to reopen over the coming months.
